My old Aztech ADSL modem which bought over 4 years ago was working fine.
All of a sudden, at about 3pm on Saturday, 23rd January 2010, rainy started very heavy & a lightning struck a few minutes later outside my house. The energy of 100kV of lightning affected the phone line may caused my modem malfunctioned. I smelt nothing burnt from modem as I knew that my laptop showed pop up screen that LAN network disconnected. Therefore, I tried to use my Celcom 3G modem whether it was working or not, so far my laptop worked fine. I suspected that my modem spoiled already.

I told a technician to test my laptop whether it was working or not by using their router. He said my laptop no problem, so he checked my modem. At last, he said my modem problem, so my modem no longer under warranty.
I decided to buy a new modem which satisfy my budget. I went over shop to shop to check price list. As far as I checked the price list, D-Link ADSL modem is quite expensive so I purchased TP-Link 4 port ADSL2+modem router which suited me for home use. Actually, I have laptop & desktop to spare.
