A Barong & Kris Dance started with music overtone

A group of music bands played for Barong

The Barong played an eternal fight between good & evil spirits.
Barong represented good spirit & Rangda represented evil spirit



Followed by his friend the monkey, the tiger came. Three masked dancers appeared, representing a man making palwine in the forest whose child was killed by tiger. The three men got angry & attacked the tiger which was helped by the monkey. During the fight, the nose of one of three men was bitten off
Two girl dancer appeared, representing the servants of the Rangda.
They were looking for the servents of Dewi Kunti who was on the way to meet Patih (Prime Minister)



The servants of Dewi Kunti came. One of the servants of the Rangda changed into a witch & entered both servants to make them angry. They meet their Patih & went together to Dewi Kunti. Dewi Kunti & her son, Sahadewa came. Dewi Kunti promised Rangda to sacrifice Sahadewa. A witch appeared & entered Dewi Kunti. She became angry & ordered Patih to bring Sahadewa into the forest. Patih was also entered by a witch so he did not have a pity on Sahadewa, he then taken into a forest & tied up on a tree. God Siwa appeared & gave Sahadewa immortality. The Rangda appeared, ready to kill Sahadewa & ate him up but Sahadewa was still alive. She then surrendered & asked him to redeem her, Sahadewa agreed & killed Rangda. The Rangda went to heaven. One of the servants of the Rangda called Kalika came before Sahadewa and asked him to redeem her too, Sahadewa refused. Kalika became angry and changed into a boar & fought Sahadewa. The bird can be defeated, she then changed into a bird but defeated again. At last, she changed into Rangda. Sahadewa did not kill her. In such circumstances, Sahadewa medicated & then he changed himself into Barong. Still the Rangda seemed too powerful & the fight was not ended. The followers of Barong appeared & helped him to fight the Rangda.
